Tracking enquiries: which goals to set in Yandex Metrica
Which goals to set on a site to see real contacts, how not to count one enquiry twice, and how we arrived at 740 contact indicators under our counting method across 10 sites.
Archive period: 1 June–29 October 2026. Conversion in this article refers to selected Metrica contact goals. A phone, email or messenger click does not confirm a call or message. The total of 740 combines visits with selected goals and three manually recorded Aeroponics Farm enquiries. These figures do not establish sales or profit.
Start by deciding what you want to count. A click on a phone number shows an attempt to get in touch. A completed form gives the sales team an enquiry it can follow up.
Which actions should you track?
- Phone link — a contact intention, not a confirmed enquiry.
- Messenger link (WhatsApp, Telegram) — a contact intention, not a confirmed enquiry.
- Successful form submission — an enquiry only after the server accepts it and it reaches the team.
- Email click — a contact intention, not a confirmed enquiry.
- Opening a calculator or adding an item to a basket — record these separately as signs of interest.
How to avoid counting the same visit twice
One person can call and then write in WhatsApp. Adding up all goal completions can count several actions in one visit. We count visits in which at least one contact goal fired. This does not deduplicate the same person across visits; confirmed enquiries and duplicates are checked in CRM.
How we counted 740 contact indicators under our counting method
- For each of the ten sites, we selected goals for contact actions or orders: a phone, messenger or email click, a submitted form, or an order placed.
- We counted visits that triggered at least one of those goals between 1 June and 29 October 2026.
- We also included three enquiries that AEROPONICS.FARM received directly by email.
Reports to check every month
- Traffic sources: which channels bring visitors who get in touch?
- Landing pages: which pages attract visitors but generate few contact actions?
- Geography: where are the visitors who get in touch?
- Referring sites — visits from chatgpt.com, gemini.google.com, perplexity.ai.
